Best guesses are fine. Your answers stay on this device and are never sent or saved. The page only remembers which state you picked. This is an estimate, not a decision: if something says "maybe," apply anyway.
Good to know
How this check works
How accurate is it?
It uses each program's real income limits for this year, and state limits where they differ (SNAP, Medicaid for kids and pregnancy, and adult Medicaid). But every program counts income a little differently and asks things we don't, so treat "likely" and "maybe" as a strong hint, not a promise. Only the agency can decide.
Why apply if it says "maybe"?
Because it's free, and a lot of people who'd qualify never apply. Programs often subtract costs like child care, medical bills or utilities that this check can't see, and those can put you under the limit.
Will getting help hurt me later?
For most people, no. You don't pay these back. If you're not a U.S. citizen, some programs can affect immigration decisions and rules changed in 2025 and 2026, so talk to a free immigration legal helper first. Find free immigration legal help → Your kids who are citizens can still get help in their own name.
One application, many programs
In many states, one application covers SNAP, Medicaid and cash help together. And once you get SNAP or Medicaid, you usually qualify automatically for WIC, free school meals, Lifeline and often energy help. Mention them when you apply.
